Homemade Oreo Cookies

So, this is definitely one of my favorite things to fix for dessert. Homemade OREO cookies!! So mouth-wateringly delicious. Can't you just smell them by looking at the picture? And it's such an easy recipe too - probably one of the fastest desserts I know how to make. Thank goodness for my mother who made me a recipe book that includes this one! So here's the recipe:

1 Devil's Food cake mix
2 eggs
3/4 cup shortening

Mix together. Roll the dough into 1" balls and place on a cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees.

As for the icing, I went the easy/fast route this time and just used store-bought cream cheese frosting. But if you're feeling more ambitious, here's a delicious recipe for it:

4 oz. cream cheese
1/8 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar

Whip together until all ingredients are well-mixed and it looks like frosting.

And the last step is to take two cooled cookies, frost the flat side of one, and stick it to the flat side of the other cookie. And "vuala!" Fabulous dessert.
